Marsh Woundwort instead is a pale lilac albeit with similarly marked petals. Black Horehound also has marked petals but the markings are less complex. Field Woundwort has very different flowers.

The leaves have stalks (Marsh Woundwort leaves don't). Interestingly the plant behind is a stinging nettle - also large-leaved. These are in the shade so maybe that's why.

The sepal tubes often pale to a salmon pink at the end of the season when the petals fall away. They contain these seeds. The similar Black Horehound instead has elongated sepal tube with short-tipped, lobes.
