Altica lythri (Chrysomelidae) (19/06/2021) Southbank Barn, Henfield (on Willowherb leaf in garden). Not Chrysolina herbacea although looks similar from a distance, that is a greener colour, not so blue as here but In particular its pronotum (bit behind the head) is as wide as the body, not smaller as here. Plus you an just see the thighs of this one are broad - so it can jump - hence the "Flea" in the name. It's also on a Willowherb which is a favourite of this species.
Cordylepherus viridis (Melyridae) (03/07/2021) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex (on Meadosweet). The more common Malachite Beetle (Malachius bipustulatus) instead is larger and greener and often has red edges to the pronotum (the segment behind the head) but also red spots on its bum that are large enough that you'd see them in this image at this angle if this were that species. C. viridis does have the red spots but they are smaller and paler.
False Blister Beetle (Oedemera lurida) - Oedemeridae (21/05/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (on wintercress). Given its location, very long slender body and elongated head I don't think there's anything else it could be. It's in the same family as the Swollen-Thighed Beetle in the prevous images.
False Blister Beetle (Oedemera lurida) - Oedemeridae (21/05/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (on wintercress). The elongated head, classic for Oedemeridae species but particularly for this O. lurida.
Harlequin Ladybird Larva (Harmonia axyridis) - Coccinellidae (06/08/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (all over the place). Very distinctive as other ladybird larvae don't have this patterning. It is an invasive species with three ssp - can't tell from the larve which this is though! We get masses of them around here although not got pics of adults yet - the larvae seem to love the yard!
Harlequin Ladybird Larva (Harmonia axyridis) - Coccinellidae (06/08/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (all over the place). They kill other ladybirds (or at least, the adults do) so their spread is being monitored as there is a concern that they have the potential to damage populations of our native species. So as awful as it sounds, I get rid of them when I see them. We have a terrifying amount around here.
Harlequin Ladybird Larva (Harmonia axyridis) - Coccinellidae (06/08/2023) Southbank Equestrian, Henfield (all over the place). I think they are really creepy-looking!

Pollen Beetle (Brassicogethes aeneus was Meligethes aeneus) - Nitidulidae (30/03/2024) Tottington Wood, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex (on mound behind pond). On a Colt's Foot flower. Given the round ends to the antennae and the rest of the body shape is what leads me to B. aeneus. Can have a metallic brassy (as here) or metallic blue-green colour. There are many pollen beetles but this is the most common.
Pollen Beetle (Brassicogethes aeneus was Meligethes aeneus) - Nitidulidae (30/03/2024) Tottington Wood, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex (on mound behind pond). On a Colt's Foot flower. They are apparently attracted to yellow flowers - or yellow clothing and are an important pollinator.
Common Red Soldier Beetle (Rhagonycha fulva) - Cantharidae (18/07/2023) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex (on a Hogweed). This has the characteristic black bum alongside the orange body for Common Red Soldier. Probably a female due to its size and broad abdomen. Males are quite a lot smaller.
Common Red Soldier Beetle (Rhagonycha fulva) - Cantharidae (17/07/2022) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex. On Upright Hedge Parsley. They seem to love umbellifers.
Common Red Soldier Beetle (Rhagonycha fulva) - Cantharidae (19/07/2021) West Mill Lane, Small Dole, Henfield, W Sussex (on a Hogweed). I suspect this may be a male as it is smaller than the previous two images.

Swollen-Thighed Beetle ♀︎ (Oedemera nobilis) - Oedemeridae (16/06/2021) From West Mill Lane along main Small Dole Road towards New Hall Lane, Henfield, W Sussex (on Field Rose). The males have swollen thighs, hence the name. The females don't - as here.
Swollen-Thighed Beetle ♀︎ (Oedemera nobilis) - Oedemeridae (16/06/2021) From West Mill Lane along main Small Dole Road towards New Hall Lane, Henfield, W Sussex (on Field Rose). Quite easy to ID as nothing else quite like them.
