Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) (04/05/2008) Unknown location. Unmistakeable except perhaps for a Firecrest, but those instead have really flame-like orange stripes on their head and a sooty-black eye stripe with a white supercilium. Goldcrests and Firecrests are the UK's smallest bird - even smaller than a Wren.
Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) (04/05/2008) Unknown location. Females apparently have a paler central crest and males an orange one, but I can never tell them apart! Males have a thin line of very bright orange feathers in the centre of the yellow crest and they can puff these out when they are being territorial. I suspect this is a female.

Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) (04/05/2008) Unknown location. Saw this nesting as I was using my 500mm lens scouting around the trees and bushes kind of like using binoculars! 500mm lens means I was not disturbing the bird in any way.
Goldcrest (Regulus regulus) (21/09/2008) Arundel Wildfowl and Wetlands Centre, trees alongside the wooded walkway bit.
