Skylark (Alauda arvensis) Family = "Alaudidae" (08/04/2007) RSPB Pulborough Brooks (field with cows in). Looks a bit like a meadow pipit until you look particularly at the bill which is quite fat in Skylarks, slender in Meadow Pipits. Also the latter is mostly pale with streaks. Skylarks have a crest which they can raise when excited or alarmed, although that is not visible here. It is the one that has a display flight whereby they go straight up in the air like a harrier jet!
